Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm and support so far. We had about 50 people come out in the far-below-freezing cold to our announcement and we quadrupled our fundraising goal for the day! What a way to start a campaign that’s all about showing Harrisburg that we are ready to bring the focus back to our families.
Speaking of families, something you may not know about me is that I’m the primary caregiver for our four year old, Jack. My mother babysits one and a half days a week and the rest of the time, it’s pretty much all me during the day while my husband is at work. (Special shoutout to involved grandparents!) That means that in addition to juggling campaigning, my work with families in the community, and my many meetings with community stakeholders and residents of the district, I’m also running the house and parenting full time. I know this is something so many of you can relate to—full time work AND full time parenting. It can be a lot and it’s the reality for the majority of families in Pennsylvania.
For these reasons and so many more, I’m determined to put families first. It’s time to care about quality early childhood education instead of legislator pensions, to support single parents rather than special interests, and to put affordable healthcare access above partisanship.
Now back to reading Captain Underpants, working on some support for a new mom, and prepping for a meeting later tonight.
